Websites for free images/graphics

http://www.socialbrite.org/2010/08/12/top-10-sites-for-free-or-low-cost-photos/

If you are looking for images/grapics, check out this website. They have compiled a list of 5 or 6 sites that have free images/grapics.

DEADLINES!

Okay Jag Rag-ers, a couple of things to think about/respond to as we reach deadline day:
1. What is the hardest part of deadline time??
2. What ideas do you have for layouts?
3. Do you have pictures/graphics to go with your articles?? If not, you need to get some from your peers, Mr. Hunsucker or Keith Coward (sports). Remember, it is part of your grade!
4. Please let me know if you post your articles to Google docs.
5. Editors~please let me know if you check articles via Google docs.

Good luck!
All your hard work will pay off when we get the printed paper and pass it out!

Coverage

Go to the link and answer these questions: Does the JagRag cover all 9 of these? If not, do we need to be more diligent about covering them? What are your thoughts about these 9 areas? Do you agree they should be covered by student journalists?

9 Elements of Journalism

There are nine elements of journalism, according to veteran journalists Bill Kovach and Tom Rosenstiel:

Journalism’s first obligation is to the truth.
Its first loyalty is to citizens
Its essence is a discipline of verification.
Its practitioners must maintain an independence from those they cover.
It must serve as an independent monitor of power.
It must provide a forum for public criticism and compromise.
It must strive to make the significant interesting and relevant.
It must keep the news comprehensive and proportional.
Its practitioners must be allowed to exercise their personal conscience.

Question:
As student journalists, do we (you) do this? Why/why not?

Hello

Welcome to the very first Jag Rag blog!
Here we can share ideas, discuss issues pertaining to journalism, FV, and anything else!
Often times I will post a question for everyone to read and discuss. I'll also post some web pages, articles, etc. that apply to YOU~a student journalist.
